An honor to remember and cherish: David X. Marks Foundation Scholar Athlete J Another event that I got to attend this weekend was the David X. Marks Foundation Luncheon to honor a select number of student-athletes. There were about 50 athletes from all of the sports at USC, and five were from track and field. The luncheon was held at the new Galen Center—what an amazing facility! They have their own sports apparel store filled with tons of Trojan Gear! Of course—I had to get a few things before I graduated. J Along with the athletes, family and friends were able to attend to enjoy a wonderful lunch and honor each athlete for his or her academic and athletic achievements from the previous year. When I first heard about this luncheon, I was very honored, and this will be an award that I will always remember and cherish.J |

I had the privilege to meet Mr. Garrett late last year when I was called into his office by his secretary. Unfortunately, I was a bit nervous. I was like—what’s up? Not many people get to meet with Mr. Garrett, or “G.” But, I got an appointment to meet with him, and it was great. It’s not every day that you get to meet a Heisman Trophy winner. J
Mr.
Garrett has been supportive of the athletes and the USC Athletic
Department, and he sets the tone for everyone to perform at their
best for the university. |
