Karla's Art Exhibit on the Web!

As many of my loyal K-Mail readers remember, 2004 was a tremendously eventful year for me and my family! I want to share with you some of the pictures that made this years soooooo exciting

2004 was a bitter sweet year in many ways. My sister got home from Iraq, my uncle went to Afghanistan, I was an All-American ... but I can tell you that I have never been happier!

Watch OUT!!!!

Nothing but air there! I am continuing to trim....
most people ask..."Is that YOU,  Karen?"

woah! Easy big guy! John provides the world's best massages for our team and at my Dad's insistence asked John to congratulate me in a different way!

Well.... my 'funny expression' at the NCAA indoors made it the most emailed photo at the time! Even one of my professors told his daughter that in real life I really wasn't scary at all! Whew! It was all over the world! Yikes!

Well 2 great guys of track and field...
photographer Kirby Lee and
Trackshark.com founder Tom Borish!
Scary! This is where I had to train for the Olympics
trials while I was at Florida. Why I had to is another
story. I called this place
Jurassic park! There
weren't any 'Raptors'... but I kept a look out
for other fierce reptiles!

Oh yeah! This is a picture from one of the cameras
they have in our rec center... here I am ready
for another workout!
How can anyone forget all of the Hurricanes we
had down in Florida last year! whew! Here's a
picture from outside my dorm area.

Well.... I guess I was the first person to wear 'Under Armor'
at the Olympic Trials! In spite of all the obstacles, I came
and competed becoming a finalist with a 9th place finish!
I thank my family and my
'Coach' Dad for helping me
get this far!

Part of K-Mail that has been so much fun is
getting to shoot some great pictures! Here's a
scene from the 2004 NCAA shotput competition
in Austin, Texas.

I felt a degree of satisfaction when we took 6th, 7th and 8th in the indoors meet. Although plagued with a back problem that hurt me all year, I was very pleased with the team's and my performance.

Can You believe all of this happened in one year... along with a Presidential Election and everything!

My sister returned from Iraq a hero.
She was
awarded many medals including the bronze star
and was selected a the Engineer's top platoon
leader of the entire Army!

Check out Kristin's Site!

My uncle
LTC Jim Anderson went to Afghanstan. Here he is building a makeshift school house with a shell to serve as a school bell! He is also a hero to me.

Well, here we are at the end of another K-Mail!

I hope you enjoyed reading it as I did putting it together! I will have future K-Mails as the track season progresses, in the meantime, I have provided a number of links to athletes that need and deserve your support. Track and Field can be a wonderful sport and although there are plenty of 'hamsters' around, you can't let them get you down!  Be all you can be!
