The men's hammer was fun to watch and although we didn't get any pictures ( Dad was off filming the women's shot and my camera ran out of juice)... it was an impressive competition! Not a whole lot of distance separated the top performers and if you look at the throws, Tom Freeman had to do a clutch performance to get into the finals after two fouls!

The women's Hammer Throw gets more
competitive every year as more American women throwers discover the event...now
if only we could talk more states into approving the event for high school!
Candice Scott of Florida and Trinidad entered the finals with an
uncharacteristic 4th place,
and pulled ahead for the win on her 4th throw. If Jessica Cosby had her last cage shattering throw
in bounds, it might have been another story.
Jukina Dickerson (Florida), Jenny Dahlgren (Georgia), Carrie Soong (UCLA), Loree Smith (Colorado State), Beth Mallory (Alabama) and Keturah Lofton ((Ohio State) made it a very exciting competition.
Amber Campbell (Coastal Carolina) fouled out in the prelims, much to everyone's astonishment! We were all looking forward to another battle between Amber and Candice...well, there will be other days.
Next year should be even more exciting, with 9 women from this year's finals returning for another season (or 2 or 3...)!
