USA Olympic Trials

Not everything is work... work... work! I do try to have a little fun along the way!

One thing I wasn't used to is all the attention from the fans. People in town or in our hotel stopped to ask who you were and what you competed in. One little girl wanted to know how tall the shot putters were! It was a great experience!

Aaaah! A little rest in the shade before
the action starts!

My recent flights sent me through Las Vegas. Unfortunately, on the way home, I missed my Atlanta connection and got to sleep in the airport lobby with the slots going all night! After leaving SLO at 9pm Sunday, I made it to Gainesville at 7pm Monday!

Here's the athlete check-in. We got our numbers (with our NAMES!!) and they checked our uniforms to make sure the logos were the right size. I got a Trials t-shirt for Uncle Jim in Afghanistan. Uncle Jim helps build bridges, roads and in this case schools! They used a spent shell for a 'school bell'!! In a resource poor country EVERYTHING must be recycled! When I think I'm stressed, I think about our soldiers serving around the world.

Thank you for all of your support this year!
It has been a good year in many, many ways. My sister came home in one piece from Iraq... I earned academic honors with a 3.6 GPA last semester and a cumulative GPA of 3.43... All-American honors with a 6th place indoors, and a chance to compete in the weight at the NCAAs.
Finally, a top 10 finish in the Trials ends the season on a very positive note!
Good luck to each of you... and I hope your futures are bright and happy!
