Utah—here we come!

Next up for me is the NCAA West Regionals at Brigham Young University
in Provo, Utah.  I have never been to Utah, so it will be a new state for me! :)

No one thought we would win the Pac 10!
There was all this talk about the fact
that we were an Big Championship team
but couldn't do 'nothin in the conference.
Getting the Bronze was very cool, but
we women had to get a lot of firsts, seconds
and big points from unusual places to
do it!

Yeah, we beat UCLA, too!

USC vs. UCLA
It never ends!!!

Isn't this the greatest!

I was able to capture a couple of great pictures of the guys as they began to
celebrate their well earned win! There were so many surprises that it is hard to
point to only one person or event that made a difference, but I would like to
recognize Noah and Will who took 1st and 3rd against some fearsome
competition when NO one would have given them a chance.

Congratulations!

PS. Will Denbo, I won't tell any of my friends in the SEC that you came from Tennessee!

What you have to do and the way you have to do it is incredibly simple.
Whether you are willing to do it, that's another matter.

Carol and Jessica about to make their
moves and go 1st and 6th in the 200m!

I am a big Harry Potter fan -- in fact my
entire family is! This sign tempted me! :)

Academics Count

The real purpose of going to college is to do something with your life when track is all over. There is nothing sadder than an athlete who keeps at it year after year with the hope of reaching the big time. Sometimes this happens, but more often than not it doesn't.

So, the only advice I can offer is to try to always keep your options open. If you are reaching for that 'golden ring' in the track and field world, I would suggest that you do everything you can to develop your skills in other areas as well.

As for me, I am in grad school in Strategic public Relations at 'SC's Annenberg. It's challenging as you can see from my finals on the right, but it is a wonderful opportunity.

Make opportunities for yourself by always having and developing options!

Good Luck to all!<

Karen:)
