If we all worked on the assumption that what is accepted
as true is really true, there would be little hope of advance.

-- Orville Wright

I came in 2nd in the shot as I was projected to. Not as far
as I wanted, but it was 8 points for the team!

However, there were some very positive signs in the meet
for me. I threw 2 feet over my best stand and I had a
big warm-up. These are  good signs. We have the NCAA Regional Championships @ BYU followed by the NCAA Championship held -- at one of my favorite places -- Sacramento!
So, there is a lot to prepare for in the future --- but today,
I am resting and
writing this K-Mail for you.

I did learn something that was quite amusing and a bit surprising. Although
SC has long dominated or shared many events with UCLA, there has been one event in
which no Trojan in at least the last 16 years has beaten a Bruin in a dual meet.
Yep, it was the women's shot!

I am glad I could break that jinx! :)

My gift to Troy!

Fight ON !!!

Here is part of my 'support team' in Eugene!
Karla is on the right, Jana (my father's
cousin) is in the middle and Aunt Helen is
on the left.

 Our 'Names' were our numbers!

Dad said they did it the same way in his last conference championship held at the coliseum in 1974.

The posted final results of the
women's shot put .
The three medallists with me on the far left.
I was competing in my third conference and I was on the medal stand once again.

Here's how I have done so far:

Pac 10 -- Runner-Up
SEC -- 2 time Champion
WAC -- Champion

Eugene—Track Capital of the USA

It was so exciting to compete at the University of Oregon with over 7,000 fans
in the stands who are all cheering for the athletes.   It was really neat to
go into restaurants and have people come up to you and want to talk about
track and wishing you good luck.  We were all really impressed to see all of the
billboards around Eugene featuring athletes for the Pac 10 Championships.
They even have a pizza place named Tracktown Pizza!
