It has been a long time since I have been in this kind of throwing shape! I was pleased with my throws and the consistency of my throwing at the Texas Relays!

In truth, we actually had perfect weather at the Texas Relays! However, the weather -- as most Texans know -- can change in the blink of an eye. As they say, "don't like the weather, just wait a while!" When we first arrived, the temperature was in the mid 80's and the humidity was climbing, but by Saturday it had settled down to a comfortable mid-70's. The funny thing is that many
'Yankee's' and those on the temperate coasts can wake up to a bit of a
shock. My mom talks about the 1974
NCAA outdoor championship -- that was in Austin-- and wondering if her
cup of soda sprang a leak? It was just condensation dripping from
outside the cup! Dad was runner-up in the discus that day, too. |

However, the more you travel the more you realize that this sort of thing happens all the time -- and you make plans for every potential issue.
Some of our younger athletes now
realize that my advice to have plenty of water was actually a good
thing. |
