PARTICIPATE.
A research project on sexual harassment involving track and
field athletes is being conducted by Karen Freberg of karenfreberg.com.
The purpose of the study is explore the frequency and implications of sexual
harassment experienced by high school, collegiate, and professional track and
field athletes.
You are being asked to take part in this study by filling out
a brief questionnaire. Your participation will take approximately thirty
minutes or less.
Please be aware that you are not required to participate in this
research and you may discontinue your participation at any time
without penalty.
You may also omit any items on the questionnaire you prefer not to
answer.
The possible risks associated with participation in this study include
psychological and emotional distress and possible discomfort from discussing
personal experiences. If you should experience psychological or emotional
distress, please be aware that you may contact a sexual harassment hotline in
your state, whose numbers are available at

assistance.
Your responses will be provided anonymously to protect your privacy.
The results of this study will be published, but due to the anonymity of this
questionnaire, your identity will not be disclosed. Potential benefits associated with the study include
a greater understanding of the environment experienced by athletes in
track and field. In addition, we are interesting in sharing our results with
policymakers, in hopes that appropriate policies designed to protect
athletes may be initiated.
