Ron Zook

Head Football Coach

University of Florida

Gator Fans:

I have announced Dan Disch has been named secondary coach at the University of Florida.

Disch comes to Florida after spending the last 16 seasons as head coach at Jacksonville's Ed White High School. He is the Commanders' all-time winningest coach, posting a record of 122-55. Overall, Disch has spent 22 years coaching high school football in the Jacksonville area.

I've known Coach Disch since I was an assistant at Ohio State. Dan has a great knowledge of the game and is an outstanding motivator. He has the ability to make players reach their potential and has a great work ethic. He will be a good fit on our close-knit staff.

"It is a tremendous honor to be joining the University of Florida staff," said Disch. "I've always had a lot of respect for Coach Zook and the way he goes about doing his job - with an unbelievable amount of energy and enthusiasm. I am very excited about joining a very special place with a great group of people."

Before arriving at Ed White High School in 1988, the Commanders had never reached the playoffs or won a championship of any kind. In the previous 17 seasons the program had posted only five winning seasons and had won a total of 63 games. Under Coach Disch, the Commanders made 11 playoff appearances, won seven district championships and six Gateway Conference Championships. In addition, the program reached the state quarterfinals four times and was ranked in the top 10 of the final edition of the state football poll eight times.

Prior to his head coaching position at Ed White, Disch was an assistant coach at Forrest High School (1981-84) and Terry Parker High School (1986-87).

Disch, 45, is married to the former Janet Johnson. They have three children; Chandler 11, Erica 9 and Virginia 6.
