What the West
Needs to know
about Islam
WEBSITE

The capacity crowd left standing room only in
an auditorium that holds 180 people to watch the documentary:

"What the West Needs to know About Islam".

It was a very popular event.

The film and discussion lead by Dr. Greg Davis were the
keystone of the International Islamofascist Week at Cal Poly.
One of the many intriguing interviews was the inclusion of a former
PLO terrorist. The film was accented with interviews and historical quotes.
There was very little that could be debated or left to interpretation. It
was as thought provoking as disturbing.

What few protesters arrived... arrived at the conclusion of the
documentary. They had to stand as seating was limited. This --
however -- did not prevent them from having strong opinions
about a film they actually never watched.

There were a few aging leftist professors in the audience that
made things quaint and nostalgic.... except, one professor knocked
my wife Laura hard as he left... he is very fortunate that Laura did
not tell me until much later or that I witnessed it.

President Christine making a point!

Laura (faculty advisor to the Cal Poly College Republicans) with Greg Davis before his talk
and presentation.

Laura is proudly wearing her FIRE shirt!
Laura did a very nice job insuring that
both the presentation and the
demonstration by Muslims and their
supporters were not marred with some
 of the nasty physical confrontations
that characterize discussions of
Islam on other college campuses.

So far, this is still America.

and...Yes, this is me.

The protestors referred to the
presentation as "Islamophobia"...?

Whenever a large crowd develops at
 political presentations, other groups
stop by to pass out their literature.
I kind of got the idea of what he
was about.... another guy was all about
'global warming.'

The poster of the book and the name of
 the night's presentation .

It wasn't all that many years ago that the posting of a flyer like this would have landed the club in 'trouble' and the student under threat of expulsion.

I do remember  Steve Hinkle.

Thanks to FIRE, this was finally settled in federal court.... and now everyone at Cal Poly can hear both sides.

The young man on the right is a
frequent writer for the Cal Poly
Mustang Daily and a member of
the College Republicans.

He did a nice job in discussing the
event with the few protestors...
although they were not in a
discussing mood.

The fellow on the left just told our
intrepid writer that he "HATES" him.

It really wasn't all that funny.

Again, some people were not there
to watch the movie or hear the talk.

They came with another objective.

Thought for Today:

"a nation that does not educate liberty will not long preserve it
and will not even know when it is lost"

disclaimer: I have no affiliation with the Cal Poly College Republicans.
My wife of 35 years is their faculty advisor and at a 130 lbs she is a formidable presence.
