Carol, Alexis,
Brysun and me!
Dear NCAA,
It is my sincere hope that you
will reinstate the times of my teammates. What was done to them was cruel
and calculating and I have no respect for anyone who would deliberately
contrive to prevent legitimate athletes from competing.
Here is how the story has been
covered in part:
"Three
of the seven women - Alexis Weatherspoon, Ginnie Powell, and Candice Davis
- put up times that should have qualified them for the NCAA championships,
only to have their performances discredited.
USC coach Ron Allice received a call Sunday morning telling him that the
times put up by Powell, Davis and Weatherspoon were not going to be
accepted by the NCAA because the meet was run improperly. The NCAA has a
rule that if the number of runners is less than the number of lanes on the
track, then only a final race - no preliminaries - should be run.
Coach Allice said that the incident was brought to the attention of the
NCAA by an unknown coach from another institution, who was not present at
the meet. He added that this infraction was nothing that the NCAA noticed
firsthand".
This is wrong and must be corrected! Let my teammates compete!
Fight On!!
